While not yet official, a range of sources including BBC Scotland and the Press and Journal have each reported that GB Energy will have its headquarters in Aberdeen.

There has already been speculation and evidence pointing toward an Aberdeen setup for GB Energy.

This includes recent Linkedin job posts from GB Energy for a range of cities including Aberdeen and Glasgow. This is with the initiative already confirmed to be eyeing a Scottish HQ.

GB Energy is a new government initiative aimed at lowering energy bills and supporting various clean energy projects. While not designed to supply energy directly, it will invest in renewable energy tech and obtain and manage given projects.

The government denied that a decision on the initiative’s HQ location has yet been made. However, there is growing speculation that Aberdeen will be selected.

Recent posts including those from BBC Scotland and the Scottish regional newspaper The Press & Journal have pointed toward an Aberdeen-based headquarters.

The Prime Minister is set to announce the HQ location officially in the weeks ahead. Along with likely being headquartered in Aberdeen, GB Energy is due to opt for smaller branch offices elsewhere in Scotland.
