Commercial operations are now underway at the Bramley Battery Energy Storage System or the Bramley BESS. The project is designed to store renewable electricity for the purposes of more efficient use.

The 100 MW/331 MWh is now operating and features the Sungrow’s BESS PowerTitan 2.0. The project is being operated by BW ESS and Sungrow.

This battery energy storage system is hooked up to the UK grid 132 kilovot electric circuit with technology designed to make the most of both line protection and power generation protection schemes.

The modern technology offered by PowerTitan 2.0 can help lower inertia of the power grid, allowing the power grid to better balance supply versus demand.

After all, solar and wind energy are generated immediately meaning that without battery energy storage systems, there’s a risk of too much electricity being generated at a given time and leading to energy wastage.

The technology provided can also reduce capital expenditures and operating expenditures with these expenses affecting long-term and short-term costs, respectively.
