The company Synergia Energy is currently looking for a company to join in plans to work on a carbon capture and storage project in the North Sea.
This follows Harbour Energy withdrawing from an initial agreement after acquiring Wintershall Dea last November.
This leaves Synergia Energy searching for a new joint venture partner. According to the company, the project will offer potential contribution to the UK’s net zero goals. The project is set to come with a storage rate of 6.5 million tonnes of CO2 each year.
While Synergia Energy has begun searching for a replacement joint venture partner, the company is continuing to work on legacy well integrity studies.
The AIM-listed company’s CCS project is also expected to have a storage capacity of around 70-100 million tons of CO2.
