As anticipated, Aberdeen will be GB Energy’s headquarters. Keir Starmer confirmed the news yesterday at a Labour Party conference speech.

GB Energy, a government initiative aimed at promoting renewable energy projects and lowering bills, is intended to generate some 650,000 new and skilled jobs.

A government press release from Tuesday covers the details of Aberdeen’s selection as the GB Energy headquarters location.

It has been expected for some time that Aberdeen will host the initiative’s headquarters. This is with hundreds of corporate leaders previously endorsing Aberdeen as host city. It was also already known that the headquarters would be located in Scotland.

Further, GB Energy jobs were recently posted in several UK cities including Aberdeen. While the granite city has secured HQ hosting rights, smaller sites will be located elsewhere in Scotland.

The two additional Scottish cities that were seen to be in the running for the HQ position, Glasgow and Edinburgh, will each host smaller GB Energy sites.
