The County Council of Staffordshire, in the West Midlands of England, has opened up a second edition of its Climate Action Fund.

According to the council, the fund is intended to support renewable energy projects and ‘circular economy’ projects.

A circular economy is an approach to manufacturing and use of products/materials geared towards sustainability and being more eco-friendly. It consists of five key aspects; reusing, sharing, leasing, repairing, recycling and refurbishment.

Reportedly, Staffordshire County Council will provide at least several grants ranging from £3,000 to £5,000 each (with a minimum of £35,000 for the fund overall) to support nonprofits seeking to introduce innovative approaches that fit with the fund’s goals.

Only nonprofits that did not receive support from the first fund will be eligible to apply for this second edition fund. The scheme will remain open until December 13th.

This comes around the same time that the government has announced national-level renewable and sustainability-oriented funds. This includes the recently announced Long Duration Electricity Storage Investment support scheme.
