The practical takeaway is that 15 years should be treated as a point at which replacement becomes more likely, not an automatic replacement date.
Dover District Council, for example, uses an industry-standard lifespan of 15 years as a guide for its boiler replacement programme because repairs can become more expensive beyond this point.
